ECO Scheme: A Brief History
The ECO scheme supports energy-efficient measures in UK homes. The ordinance was begun with the ECO1, which aimed at cutting carbon emissions by a target of 12.4 Mt CO2 for Carbon Emissions Reduction Obligation (CERO) and reducing energy costs by £3.7billion for Home Heating Cost Reduction Obligation (HHCRO).
The next ECO2 scheme was implemented from April 2015 to March 2017, but further extended to Sept 2018, and aimed at a new target of saving 19.7 Mt CO2, and reducing home heating cost by £6.46 billion.
The ECO3 scheme, from Dec 2018 to March 2022, aimed at £8.253 billion in savings for HHCRO. Finally, the ECO4 energy saving grant, active since April 1, 2022 and will continue until March 31, 2026
